NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR COMBAT AIR FORCES ADVERSARY AIR IN SUPPORT OF SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, NORTH CAROLINA The United States Air Force has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for dedicated contract adversary air (ADAIR) sorties for Combat Air Forces training in support of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (AFB), North Carolina. The Proposed Action is to contract the support of approximately 2,590 ADAIR sorties annually using 14 contractor-owned and contractor-operated aircraft. Contract ADAIR would support Seymour Johnson AFB training operating out of Kinston Regional Jetport (ISO). Aircraft would depart from airport runways, transit from the airport to military special use airspace, perform ADAIR training, transit back, and land at the airport. Training activities would use existing special use airspace near Seymour Johnson AFB. Operations and maintenance facilities would be contracted by the service provider at the civilian airport to support the ADAIR mission. The results, as found in the Final EA, show the Proposed Action would not have a significant adverse impact on the environment, indicating that a FONSI is appropriate. An Environmental Impact Statement is not considered necessary to implement the Proposed Action. Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY Draft Environmental Assessment for Proposed Unexploded Ordnance Removal From Waters Adjacent to the K-2 Impact Area The United States Marine Corps (USMC), in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, Council on Environmental Quality guidance implementing NEPA [40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) parts 1500-1508], and, Marine Corps regulations for implementing NEPA (MCO 5090.2) has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposal to remove unexploded ordnance from the waters adjacent to the K-2 impact area at Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The purpose of the Proposed Action is to reduce the volume of potential munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) or material potentially presenting an explosive hazard (MPPEH) in the New River adjacent to the K-2 Impact Area from historical range operations. A Draft EA was prepared that evaluated intrusive investigation (i.e., locating and removing munitions and explosives of concern) within approximately 800 acres of water within the New River and the No Action Alternative.
