NOTICE OF 2018 GENERAL ELECTION Craven County, NC The 2018 General Election will be held on November 6, 2018, in the County of Craven, NC. The following contests will be submitted to the voters on the General Election ballot: US House of Representatives-District 3; NC Senate-District 2; NC House District 3 & 79; District Attorney; County Board of Commissioners-District 1,2,3,4,5,6,7; Clerk of Superior Court; County Sheriff; NC Supreme Court Associate Justice; NC Court of Appeals Judges; NC Superior Court Judges; County Board of Education-District 2,4,6, & unexpired term District 7; Soil & Water District Supervisor; Constitutional Amendments: Protect Right to Hunt and Fish; Strengthening Victims' Rights; Maximum Income Tax Rate of 7.0%; Require Photo ID to Vote; Nonpartisan Judicial Merit Commission; Bipartisan Board of Ethics and Elections Official explanations of the constitutional amendments can be found on and . All county residents are eligible to vote. Craven County residents who are not registered to vote in the County must register to vote by Friday, October 12, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. to be able to vote in this election. Voters who are previously registered need not re-register for this election. Any voter who has moved outside his or her precinct but within the county since the last election should update their voting record and notify the board of elections in writing by Friday, October 12, 2018. A person is not qualified to vote in a precinct if you have not resided in that precinct for 30 days or more preceding an election G.S. 163A-841. Voters MUST vote at their assigned precinct to receive their proper ballot. Voters may also update information (other than party changes), register, and vote during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period of October 17 until November 3, 2018. To register during One-Stop documentation of identity and residence is required. Sites and times listed below. Absentee voting is available. Requests for absentee ballots by-mail must be made on the state absentee request form and received in the Craven County Board of Elections office no later than Tuesday, October 30 at 5:00 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, October 17 and ending at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. One-Stop Absentee voting will be held in the 1) Craven County Governmental Bldg at 406 Craven, Street, New Bern, NC 2) New Beginnings Ministry of Faith, 30 Park Ln, Havelock, NC; 3) Cove City Fire Department at 425 S. Main St., Cove City, NC; and 4) Vanceboro Fire Department at 375 NC Hwy 43, Vanceboro, NC; The hours of operation will be weekdays 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The absentee review board meetings will be held in the office of the Craven County Board of Elections, located at 406 Craven Street, New Bern, NC, at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, Oct. 23, & Oct. 30; at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5; 3 pm on Nov. 6: and 10 am Nov. 15. Other business may be transacted by the board at this time. Voters voting in person are entitled to assistance by an election official, or, if assistance is needed due to disability or illiteracy, by a qualified person of their choice. Voting sites are accessible to all voters. Curbside voting is available only for voters who due to age or disability are unable to enter the voting sites. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
